Oh for the love of... why does every flipping conversation about everything come back to those evil single mother collecting child support? It is getting tedious.

Some of the things it mentioned were "your DH has worked much harder than you today" etc

I'm a feminist and believe that it's one of the toughest jobs out there. Both DP and I agree that being at home with children all day everyday is thankless and relentless.
Taking issue with only the bolded part.
I do believe that my DP works much harder than me most days. He walks in the door, covered head to toe in filth and is absolutely knackered. Whilst I might be tired from a long day cleaning, I know for a fact that I havent done as much physical work as he has that day.
(Thats where my issue with the quote ends. The rest is not aimed at you Benji )

Whilst I make no secret of the fact that I do actually do almost everything at home for my DP, and enjoy it, he still does help out at times. He makes his own smoke-o, sometimes makes dinner, sometimes makes breakfast on weekends, plays with DS when he feels up to it etc.
My mother hates the way I am in this relationship and always says "I dont know where I went wrong...you are soo subservient to him" ...I choose to be. I am in no way forced to do these things. DP said to me "I dont care if you dont go back into the workforce...I dont care if you dont get paid work another day in your life...but if you want to be a housewife, BE a housewife" ...and that is the path I have chosen so far and I truly believe that out of the two of us, I have the easier job, by far.

I don't think many feminists have an issue with that in itself. You are happy with that, you do it of your own free will. Your household runs well for YOU. Believe it or not, I do a bulk of the housework and tasks with the kids and I'm ok with that.

But where a man demands sex, his dinner, or a woman tells other women a 'good wife' does everything for their husband, that's where there are disagreements

Absolutely, London. Not every family setup is the same. I understand you have one school aged child? As do I. By this age it's pretty easy, and not everybody's husband is in the building/mining trade. I would argue that if I stay home with a newborn + toddler, I would have little-no sleep, never toilet alone, never have a hot coffee, rarely shower on time etc wheras my DP spends his day behind a desk. I'm not saying he doesn't work hard, nor that it's not at times stressful!!!! Not at all, but the blanket "he works harder than her because he leaves the house" IMO is nonsense.

Actually, my boss, who IS in the building trade had to watch his daughter the other day while wife sick. He was so glad to be back at work, he said it's easier

Exactly! That is kind of what I have been saying, in many threads. Nobody can comment on what a person in a relationship should do if they are not one of the two people in that relationship! I dont begin to tell people what they SHOULD do in their relationship or parenting or household because I am in in their situation so have no place to judge what may or may not work.

Well, clearly it is flat as we can't see that it isn't when we stand on it. I strongly suspect a turtle may be holding us up too.

Eek! Did I do that? I didn't mean to. I was just commenting on the reason/philosphy behind alimony.
