Default How much does it cost you for a basic consult at the vet?

We take our birds to the avian vet, but I'm talking about regular vets.

Just discovered my daughter's mouse has a big lump on the side of its body. Near it's leg. It's black-ish in colour, so looks like it's filled with blood or something, but it's only appeared recently - I don't handle the mice much, but a week ago it was normal. It's about grape-sized now.

Anyway, I told her I'd take the mouse the vet... but am wondering how much this is going to cost me. I know it's unlikely much can be done anyway... but just the consult to find out what it is (abscess or tumor, most likely)... how much might that be?

    Thanks guys!

$58 for a consult... I guess maybe it would depend on the area though?

I think around $65 for dog consult (from memory). My vet is a bit on the expensive side (but I go there for convenience).

Thanks guys. Somewhere around $60 then. I can manage that... for a $5 mouse... lol. No, for my daughter who loves that $5 mouse.

Good luck with mouse. I joke about how much my dog has cost me for a free dog lol, in the thousands in his first year. But yes, he is a loved member of the family. Hope mousy is better soon.
