    Default Screaming in the car

My 8 month old DD rarely goes in cars because I don't drive. However, when she does go in the car she screams, like she is being murdered. She doesn't do it in the car seat when it's on the pram, or on planes, or at daycare, just in the car. She has been both rear facing, and then yesterday forward facing, (there was no other option as it wasn't our car seat), and it makes no difference. Toys, singing, holding her hand, nothing calms her until she gets out of the car. Is this within the range of normal or is it unusual? The reason I'm wondering is that there was an incident when she was very tiny, in a car, but I would be really surprised if she remembered, as she was only 5 days old. My 3 year old is fine, falls asleep.

Aww poor thing and poor you. Does she have a mirror to look at herself? Can you sit in the back with her? DD2 cries if she's tired and we've stopped at the lights but it stops as soon as we're moving again. I know it's hard.

I think some kids just don't like it. Av hated it, she still does and will have the occasional spaz attack. It's getting better as she gets older. Hang in there.

My DD screamed and got herself in a terrible state EVERY time she went in the car at that age. She is good as gold now. Hopefully yours will grow out of it to. Good Luck.

It's horrible, but completely normal. Not much to be done about it unfortunately they just seem to grow out of it.

Ah good. Don't need to start therapy just yet then. Luckily she doesn't go in cars very often, but because it's never me driving I feel really bad for the person who has to drive for 40 mins with a howling baby.
