I just had my bloods this morning and it was bulk billed - even came with a free tea and biscuit after I nearly passed out.

Hi I am in Melbourne and though the blood test is bulk billed, it gets sent away to VCGS who will send you an invoice for $110. I am pretty sure this applies to everyone in Melbourne anyway. You do get about $30 back from Medicare I think...possibly a bit more.

I had no idea about this and so was surprised when I got it!!

    Thanks ladies,
I was just curious.. You'd think these tests should be covered by the government.. It's abit silly really!?
Thanks for letting me know :-)

It's because VCGS is a privately funded organization as far as I'm aware and also the nuchal test is not compulsory. I think it might be free of you are high risk.

I know it may be my own personal opinion but it should be compulsory because I know the majority of woman like the reassurance that everything is going to be ok..
Ohhh that's interesting to know. High risk I didn't know :-)
    Thanks heaps kw123!
