    Default constipated 6 week old

    Hi everyone,

I have a 6 almost 7 week old bubba girl. She is formula fed, I use Nan HA.

She has been having a bit of trouble doing number 2's. She grunts, groans, screams, goes bright red for ages before she goes. It can go on for hours before she actually goes. It is all normal looking, so not hard or anything. I was just wondering if you have any suggestions of what I can do to help her go easier.

I've been told raw sugar in her milk?????

How often should she be doing number 2's??

Sorry I have no advice on how many dirty nappies a ff bubs should have however I used to massage DS heals in a clock wise motion and do the bike riding thing with his legs also just pop his knees to his belly and then straighten them out etc, the massage doesn't need to be hard nor the movements with the legs, he would usually poop with in 1/2-1hr.
There are also coloxial drops you can get from the chemist that you can put into the formula if all else fails.
I hope your bubba gets so relief soon.

Hi, I think it's brown sugar in water, not raw sugar.
    That's meant to work well.

re you sure she is constipated?? Lots of grunting and groaning and going red in th face is usually pretty normal, but I am only experienced with BF babies. Just going on that you said her poos were not dry or pebbly, but soft and normal looking. Perhaps have a chat with a nurse or doc first?? I think the brown sugar and water works pretty quickly.

Coloxyl drops are fabulous for little ones. Best to give at night and by morning all action. For my bubs I used to add an extra 20ml of water to each bottle and that seemed to help keep things flowing.
