Hi all Just wanted to see if someone could help me out as I am completely and utterly bamboozled by the breast pump/storage world out there..... I just bought a Medela Swing pump and am not sure what I need to buy to store the milk after pumping - do I need the specific Medela bottles or will any do. Do I need to pump into the provided Medela bottle that comes with the kit and then is it ok to pour into another or does this potentially contaminate or damage the milk in some way or can any bottle be attached to the pump? Also are there any other accessories I might need in addition to the pump? Also are there any tricks or tips worth knowing for this pump? Also second question - I bought some 'Love to Swaddle Up' swaddle thingies and am not sure if I need to put something else on the baby in addition to this and a sleep jumpsuit? Particularly during winter. Our house doesn't get hugely cold - probably around 15-17 degrees but I wanted to be sure I had enough coverings on the baby. Any advice you could provide would be very appreciated. Cheers Kathy

Hi! I used the same pump, you have a few options. Freezing in any bottle is fine, as long as they are clean/sterilized. I used the Medela bottles for when in fridge, but then used to transfer from the bottle to milk storage bags for freezing, as they don't take up as much room!
I also used those wraps, they are awesome!! For a newborn in winter, I would put a blanket over the top and a bodysuit underneath. As it got warmer, I removed the blanket but still kept the bodysuit on until summer.

I agree you can transfer milk into anything else to freeze as long as its sterilized. I used totally different bottles to feed with too, didn't like the ones that came with it much.
With that pump i sometimes had to run the first 'let down' suction cycle a couple of times to get the flow started, but its a great pump.

Too cute Missie Mack!!
I agree re storage/waste - I used to store milk in different smaller amounts in bags for that reason too.
