Default My 5 month old is cutting a molar! Why? Why? Why?

My 5 month old DS2 is cutting a molar, and no, I'm definitely not imagining it. Two points of it have cut through so far and I can see a third point not far off. It is a bottom molar on the right and his older brother didn't get this particular tooth until he was 15 months old! He has no other teeth but the partner molar looks like it is coming up too . Why in the name of god would a 5 month old cut a molar first up??? The poor little thing is miserable. I'm giving him Baby Panadol and rubbing Bonjela on his gum, but he is so unhappy that he is hardly feeding. Has anyone else had a baby cut a molar so young?

My DD2 (5 months old) might be getting a molar. I can feel a bump on her lower left side molar and she is chewing on her fingers there. She tries really hard to stuff her teething fish thingy right in but only fingers can reach. She's also gone from a once a week pooper to sometimes twice a day! She's slightly grizzlier but is such a chillaxed baby it's not a drama. Can't feel any sharp bits yet though.

Teeth generally move in one direction. So if the OP can see the cusps of the molar tooth coming through it probably will erupt in the next few days. Ouch poor bubba

Oh thank god im not the only one my bub turned 6 months yesterday and this has been going on for past 6 wks sounds the same as you. While its uncommon but not abnormal im hoping that the rest of the teething will be a breeze for her. Ive also been using nurofen when all else fails and something that she really enjoys is its a small freezer brick for lunch boxes she sucks/knaws on it and loves the cold as teething rings ect dont stay cold for very long at all.
