Nicknames are funny because that aren't always to do with your name. My dd is Olivia and gets called lollies by almost everyone.
Also, you don't have to shorten a name if you don't want to. Call her clementine and anytime someone calls her anything else correct them. They will soon learn. My mum tells the story of my aunt calling my brother Dan when he was a baby. Mum says she turned around and said "his name is Daniel not Dan" not one family member has shortened his name since. My name is Melissa and it never gets shortened to Mel or anything else.
