Default What are our chances of getting a rental?

We have been renting from family for the past year and a half, we need a bigger place now that DS is getting bigger and the backyard here is really not child friendly.

We are a young family (both early 20's) with one income of about $47,000 a year and one child who is nearly one.
Our price range is anything up to $300 and maybe slightly over.

DF has recently found a new job, starting after easter, he worked at his previous job for 5 years.
Will the new job affect our chances??
We will be applying for a few this week and he is still at the old job atm, do we put this as his current employer?
What do you think our chances are? Do people want young poor families in their rental properties?
Any tips to increase our chances?

We were in a simillar position when I was pregnant.

DH had just started a new job only a couple of weeks before we applied for our first house and got it no problems and that was with me not working.

I'd put the job he is currenty working at when you hand in the forms.

    Good luck.

    Hay there,
Me and DF were kind of in the same position when we first arrived in Australia. I was at uni and DF was only due to start week the following week so didn't have any payslips. We only had one reference from renting and it was in NZ.

We just wrote a letter on the front of our application saying DF hadn't started work but gave a number to call to confirm hours/wages. We also included personal references however I don't think they ever called. We also had all the forms and ID info photocopied and ready to go so if we liked the house we handed it in then and there, which meant we were a few steps ahead of everyone else who hadn't.. Although it does require running around the real estate agents to get the forms.

When we finally decided to be serious about looking for houses we got offered all 3 we applied for..

    Good luck

Depends entirely on the demand for rentals in your area.

Apply to lots but what I found helpful is being honest with the realtor and find a good one willing to help you and stick with them.
