I've been here since 2007, and have seen it all (versions of this thread included). I've learned to only go into light hearted threads and just ignore nasty things. The good of this forum far outweighs the bad. I guess you get a thick skin when you've been here a while.
Oh, and there's something to be said for the report button. I think more people should learn to use it rather than getting into fights.

i love my fb page of girls that i met through here. it is totally supportive.....the forum is different and i think a lot of it has to do with anonymity and we don't get to know the other posters.
i've taken breaks before (helpful) and i have some rules i stick to. i never quote someone unless i agree with them. i don't see the point in singling out someone to pick a fight with. they have said their opinion, i will state mine and i don't need to pick them apart.
unfortunately i've been quoted solely to disagree with (at which i will sometimes fire back) but i've seen it just goes round in circles. so i tend to just ignore.....
if i'm having a bad day, i won't come on or read the posts that are controversial. which you can pretty much tell from the title or how many pages it has in a sort time!!!
i hope you come back, maybe just take a mini holiday?

You can easily breeze in and then breeze out again..I find each time I have come back my care factor has lowered to the point that I don't really care about BH any more, but in saying that I have made friends with some of the most amazing people on the planet.

Having been a part of many forums, I can tell you this is not unique to BH.
That said, why do you care? My philosophy is that I'll do what I think is right and I'll have my own opinions. Someone else is likely to think and do the exact opposite. That's ok!
In the end if they are getting hot and bothered about your choices then it's just tough luck for them.
I think we women have problems coping with criticism sometimes. Just remember that we aren't all clones and our differences are what make us unique. If you're criticized its ok, and doesn't make you a bad or wrong person.
I say stay, and just feel happy with your own choices.

It's so sad to see so many lovely hubbers leaving. I completely understand though as there seems to be a couple that get a little nasty at times. :-(

It's not nice seeing people feel they can't stay around but it is the internet. Nobody is ever going to agree on everything and not everybody is going to be nice. It comes down the taking the good with the bad. BH has never been any different since i joined! If it's just certain ppl upsetting you than you can always put them on ignore.

I don't see the difference between here or the real world. People are a little more up front with their opinions, but at least here you can click them away in an instant.

Why do people feel the need to make a public announcement about leaving a social networking site?
I'm not trying to be nasty just really wondering. I have friends who make a big song and dance about leaving Facebook but then after their little vent are back again...
