Oryx and Crake and Year of the Flood are really good "sci fi," ish dystopian reads. They're a side-by-side story... so both set in the same time, but about diff people. It really enjoyed both. By Margaret Atwood. Given the books you mentioned, you might like them. (you can read either first - given they're not a sequel/prequel).

I've recently read, and loved, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.
They appealed to me in a similar way to Memoirs of a Geisha.
