I was eating 1200 calories for months and eventually 5kg from my goal weight my weightloss stopped, I started working out harder and yet no change in measurements and scales for a good month. Not realising that some days my body was only getting 700-800cals a day.
As soon as I bumped up my calories between 1500-1600 calories and introduced a treat day of around 1800-2000cals once a week I started seeing results again and lost those pesky last 5kgs.
I'm finding it easier for me to maintain my weight by using this zig zagging method, my calorie intake is higher now but I find my metabolism has kicked back into gear and I'm able to treat myself occasionally, still maintain healthy eating and not immediately gain weight like in the past.

You said it perfectly- Biggest losers goal is to lose weight- when the ULTIMATE GOAL should be to lose FAT!!!!!!!!!!! the extremely large contestants have a HUGE amount of muscle to be carrying that weight around everyday- there legs will be extremely strong- losing this muscle mass means there metabolism is lower so they will never be able to eat a normal amount of food when on maintenance - but it is just a tv showm for ratings and not for the HEALTH of the contestants
