Just curious about other people's thoughts...
DS is 3 1/2 turning 4 in June and goes to school next year. With the new Government rules he will be the youngest in his class and is currently the youngest in his room at childcare where he attends 2 days a week.
Anyway... the new preprep teacher has bought in a system where they have sticker charts for 'when the children get caught doing something good'. In the first 3 weeks my DS got 3 stickers TOTAL when most of the other kids got 3 per day. So I'm feeling a little like the parent of the resident naughty kid. At least 1/3 of the kids are special needs plus there's an 18 month age range in the class. I get the impression from the teacher she's attempting to set one standard for all the kids but I think she's somewhat distracted settling in with so many kids needing extra help (things like 10+ kids needing nappies at sleeptime keeping in mind these kids are about to start school).
Would it be wrong to ask to discuss my child's behaviour? Today I got the impression she just thinks I'm doing a bad job at home and its bad luck he doesn't get the stickers when at kindy.

Talk to her about it. Some kids in my sons prep class are on their 3rd sticker sheet from the beginning of the year. He has one more sticker to go. She says he is alot quieter than most of the other kids. She doesnt mean to forget to give him stickers, but just he doesnt stand out like most of them but he is one of the best behaved students she has.

Thanks! That does make some sense. He's generally ok behaved- the number of kids that cry, scream, hit and bite in the room are overwhelming- throw in a couple of aspergers / autism kids a couple with severe allergies and one with severe developmental delay from premmie birth and he kinda doesn't get noticed much.

Im wondering why you put your DS in that preschool in the first place? Why didn't you put him into a preschool with "normal" and "well behaved" kids? Is there such a thing though?

I will be talking to my sons teacher tomorrow morning when i drop him off as i know he is meant to get another sticker to complete his first chart and he is super excited about getting a surprise from her box.
It does annoy me a little how some are up to their 3rd sheet already but as i said earlier my boys is alot quieter than most in his room. Good luck when you talk to her.
