I was trimming my DD's nails while she was asleep on my lap with her baby clippers. I got her took a gouge of skin off where the side of her nail is. I hate trimming her nails as it is and I'm so cautious. Obviously not cautious enough
How much pain have I put her in?

It's ok I did that too. I felt horrible but he was over it pretty quickly, felt terrible though
I now use nail scissors to nick the end of his nail and then peel it.

How bad was it? Did it bleed did she wake up screaming?? It's most likely ok, I'd put savlon on it and a bandsid if you need to, I'm sure she will be fine! We've all cut too close before I'm sure xxx she's probably fine hon

DH and I have both done that too. It's an awful feeling but it doesn't seem to cause much pain - or lasting pain anyway.

She woke up crying its just red now, didn't bleed too much. It's exposed though so I'll do the bandaid idea I think. Ugh

I always did that I used clippers and yes it would bleed and yes she would cry so I've resorted to biting them.off while shes feeding. It works so im happy. Lol.

You're not terrible. It's easy to do.

oh your not terrible! but it is a terrible feeling, the first time i ever cut DD nails i got her and in the next moment the power went out and it was a dark rainy evening and DH was out, there was blood everywhere. rushed accross to the neighbor who had power but it was a horrible feeling at the time. she healed, as did I.

I did this too once....never forgave myself, its horrid hey..
From then on I very gently filed her nails down with a soft file when she was asleep....

I did this too... twice! After the second time I gave up on nail clippers. The maternal and child healthcare nurse recommended using a gentle nail file instead but I found I got nowhere with it. So I started using baby nail scissors instead. I haven't had a single accident with them and I've been using them regularly for a couple of months now.
