we had this happen at our school. The deputy principal pointed out several kids and I doubt the parents knew anything about it before hand. I really doubt the parents of mary would have known too. Who in their right mind would allow total humiliation to their child, not to mention the fall out from it. The poor kid would never want to go back to school.
It makes me so angry that people in authority do this.

I changed the names just in case. They're pretty standard school yard names in reality.
I'll report it today.

Lol, I did wonder about the names.
It makes me actually quite angry to think of a school doing that so publicly. How can she now go back to class and be expected to learn when she'll be consumed by shame and probably feeling quite disliked by everyone. If it were me at that age I'd have completely withdrawn inside myself and not wanted to ever return to school.
I got into trouble in junior primary. Principal scared me witless, I truly learnt my lesson. Privately.

Wow, that's just not on in my opinion!! I wouldnt like to see any kids shamed like that let alone my kids.

How on EARTH could they think that was ok?! If I was the mother of the girl who had lost the money, I would have been stopping it then and there in outrage! Sure, my daughter lost her lunch money to another child's dishonesty, but that child doesn't need to be loudly and shamefully embarrassed in front of the whole school!
It should be done in private where the child is able to learn the lesson without being shamed. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from adults towards children!

Wow! Wow, wow, wow!!
Totally NOT ok. He just bullied that child. Poor Mary is most likely to have issue now that could result long term.
Poor darling. If I was her parent I would reply over the speaker phone the disgust with what was happening. Finding $5 is ALOT different to stealing $5. Even if it was theft outing the child do publicly is far from ok.

That's really awful

That is really awful.
No way would I okay that kind of 'punishment' for my child.
Definitely a matter that should have been dealt with privately by the school.
