Default giving Birth in NSW(Tweed) But live In Gold coast... I am confused please help!!!

For the ladies in NSW does anyone know how much it is to register a birth in NSW?

i rang them to find out weather i register qld or nsw as i am in qld but giving birth on the border which is NSW health(tweed hospital). so i need to register for NSW and do they have the special birth Certificates as well? when i spoke to them they said the site is down for a few hours go visit it later not that helpful lol just said the hospital have the registration packages and will fill out the birth package and you need to as well and send it in... after the baby is born.

i also need to find out about the early release program too as i live in Mudgeeraba gold coast Qld i don't know if i will qualify and do i need to stay in hospital and will they allow me to leave and do it with a GP??? all so weird... first Midwife at 30 weeks told me i don't qualify.. but then a ob said i can do it with a GP i will ask again in 2 weeks at next ANC appointment

I heard that when you have your baby in NSW like i will. that you need to re register baby in Qld is that correct? and how does it all work with centrelink, medicare, doctors etc?

    TIA X

I birthed my last 2 at tweed and was released after a 1 night stay, they then send the nurse round for the next week to check your all doing ok. You can purchase the additional fancy birth certificates on top of regular one, but depends on what pack you pick in regards to price. I have never heard of re-registering bub to qld though . Good luck with it all

I'm pretty sure bub's only needs to be registered once. Cause let's face it, you wouldn't re-register their birth if you moved interstate would you?

Nor sure on the registering thing but it would make sense to have nsw..

As for not qualifying, Do you have friends or family closer to tweed? If so just use their address.. That's what my friend did!

    Good luck!!

    Thanks Ladies...

I rang them again and they told me only need to Register in NSW.

Cost is $69 for both the certificates in the package.

Will ask again at ANC about the early discharge and follow that up. in 2 weeks.

I spoke with centrelink whom advised me that i need to get a form filled out at the birth of newborn birth form for FAO/medicare Until i get him officially registered. so that you can apply for the things i need to and put him on medicare.

With why i am having him at tweed and i live on the gold coast, well its simple i have had friends and personal involvement at the south port hospital and wasn't impressed with the model of care given. so chose to go to tweed as was also recommended by my then ob/gyn as it has better care and service. and well technically its gold coast isn't it? but its on the border so its NSW LOL strange, but i am not going to have my baby in a hospital i am not a 100% happy with. when there is one better... so i went for better choice as the birth only happens once so i want to go somewhere i am confident to help birth my baby. And from where i live its closer in distance to go to tweed then south-port so also a reason along with the model of care. i did go to ANC at South-port and the care was shocking waiting 6 hours unacceptable so i transferred as tweed is closer in Distance and care much better from my experience.

I too have heard lovely stories of tweed, so far the staff has been lovely and ANC longest wait was a hour and half but that is expected given i see the ob clinic specialist always run late lol. and the staff are always lovely i love it there so far, so i am in high risk for Pre Eclampsia and Bp and early births so need to watch me... but all good so far. glad to hear they are lovely...
