Default 'Why are Atheists so ANGRY!??'

So, why are Atheists SO angry!?

A thread for people to discuss their personal take on it and/or gain some insight.

Maybe share how they are being affected personally and/or globally. And find a solution to those problems.

I'm using this link to an AWESOME youtube video to set the tone.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUI_ML1qkQE
(be warned the vid goes for near 50minutes and you may not want little ones around.)
The vid features an American speaker - but hey, we are all one World after all.

**Please note this thread is intended for Atheists / Agostics / Humanists etc - as I feel WE TOO deserve a section or chat thread, without fear of being told to back off.
BUT in saying that anyone is welcome to join the discussion**

I'd be angry too if I was constantly told I was going to a place I don't believe exists or if I were told I'm not truly happy as I'm spiritually dead.

That gets me too, BlissedOut - that we don't "believe in anything".

I believe in science and human nature. I know if I'm dying or sick or in pain that it's HUMANS and science who will be there to help and cure me.

People need to believe whatever helps them get through life, I'm cool with that. But don't tell me I believe in "nothing".

I agree with all the points you guys have made.!!

The one that makes my blood boil is "while there is life there is hope that she (being me) will return to the fold".

I find it condescending and for some reason I see red. It is like I don't know my own thoughts.

..being told to 'shush and not make a fuss..'

..being told that as a parent it is my responsibility to "gently FORCE" and idea on to my children so that they can 'make up their own minds'"

...seeing people shrug at the problems faced by cultures outside of our country, because it is not 'our' issue and it may be 'disrepectful to comment' on another religion (even though it may be violating human rights).

I guess I'm just annoyed that we are governed by attitudes based on something I do not believe in or support.

    THIS 1000%

I don't turn around and tell Christians, Jews whoever that their God or what ever their higher being is means nothing to me because I don't believe, I am sick and tired of having their beliefs shoved down my throat, being told I'll go to hell because I don't believe. Don't you have to believe in God and heaven to go to hell?

If you want to worship a frog as your God, knock yourself out but do not force it on me.

I really hate the fact that something being a religious belief means it is out of bounds for debate/discussion. When someone makes a statement like "I know the bible is true" and you present factual, logical information to refute that alleged truth, you are apparently not respecting their beliefs.

Saying something like "I know the bible is true" in front of me is like a red rag to a bull... If I can't respond because "they are my beliefs, don't question me", no wonder it makes me frustrated and exasperated (I dot want to say angry, lol)

hi, im treading cautiously here. I just want to say there is a difference between saying, I believe the Bible is true, and I know the bible is true. I think there is a lot of arguement because of those two words, believe, and know. Some one can 'Know' something, but still choose to 'believe ' something opposite. I know I cant prove the existance of heaven, but i sure do believe that it is there when i die. please dont jump on me now. Marie

SO who watched the youtube vid I linked?

    What did you think?

Could you relate? - or does it stem from somewhere else for you?

I know I watched her talk and actually clapped and agreed out loud..In my kitchen - home alone! She totally hit the nail on the head for me.
