    Default Bonjela...

I remember reading somewhere that Australian bonjela has a toxic ingredient in it... But can't recall what.

Does anyone know? And know if it's possible to get it without said ingredient. It was brilliant when DS1 was teething and now that DS2 is teething up a storm I'd love to have it on hand...

There was a link between salicylate salts in the gel and Reyes syndrome.

Not sure if they have changed the formulation since or not.

We used and swore by the Hylands Teething Tablets - they are homeopathic. Not sure if you can purchase them here instore, I know you can buy them online from iHerb.

No they haven't changed it and infact it's been taken off the market in many countries (not Australia because we seem to be so behind the eight ball)

It's not good. There are so many other better products available. It's not good for their gums (the tingling sensation is the alcohol burning)

Again I am from a dental back ground (my whole family are dentist or drs kid you not) I have worked for many dentists aswell and not one of them advice to use it. Infact they ensure they mention not too.

I have never given my children it because of what I know and especially seeing there is so much else available.

Hope my scary advice may benefit you. Sorry if it sounds forceful lol

I swore by hylands teething tablets too, though last time I went to get some I found out they had be recalled, something to do with the varying amount of belladonna in them and there was a few cases of belladonna poisoning in America though I think

you can get SM-33 Gel which helps to reduce the pain on their gums but doesn't containe the salycities. i brought it for my girls but i found i never actually used it for them.

With DD1 we used the hylands teething tablets but before DD2 came along they were recalled because the Bella-Donna in them can be harmful and the amounts in the hyland tablets wasn't regulated enough for them to be considered safe.

I use brauer teething relief and panadol for my girls and if they have really sore gums something cold to chew on like a wet face washer put in the freezer for an hour or so.

It was just down at my local chemist. Not a big chemist either. Maybe they have a list of stockists on their website?
