Default KONY 2012! Make him famous...

Thought I'd start a thread where we can discuss this and throw ideas around.

I'm going to start by saying, why only stop with US troops...?

I'm going to send a letter or make a phonecall every day to the local, state and federal political members and just ask simply....

"What are we doing about Josef Kony today?"

What are you going to do??

Stanthorpe's going to look pretty funny on April 20, I think I'll be the only one hanging posters........ I hope not.

You know this is all propaganda right? Kony isn't even in Uganda, in fact this is all a pys op to attempt to get people to support war in Africa, Uganda, just now that they are tapping into the large oil supply that happens to be on the border of Uganda and the Congo. You know that the money donated to these people only 30% goes to Uganda, and it goes to the army, not the people. And you also know that the 20th of April happens to be hitlers birthday, so why pick that day?
Please don't blindly follow these call to actions, do some research. The only good thing to come out of this vid is how fast people realized what it really was.

I have so many questions about this campaign. It has been reduced to such a simplistic thing. I don't support the campaign at all because it fails to address most of the key issues of the area.

Kony is a bad guy and he deserves to face up to the ICC, just like Lubanga. But there are so many implications of sending lots of Western troops to the area, especially as the countries involved don't want that to happen.

Bronny is right, latest intelligence is that Kony isn't in Uganda, hasn't been since 2006. The LRA is down to about 250 hardcore members and is currently not a huge threat. Plus, the idea of sending US troops in to capture Kony for the ICC is laughable as the US doesn't recognise the ICC's jurisdiction.

Incidentally, the Kony 2012 video was shown to Kony victims in Northern Uganda and they reacted very badly to it. They were very angry about being portrayed in such a way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm against war and human rights abuse. But your better off throwing your money behind a trusted organization.
I'll spare you all my other thoughts on this. Regarding conspiracies about who is pulling the strings.

Ummm yeah I agree with everything bronny and Ana said. As has been said most of the money is going to the army not the victims and while i believe the video had the best of intentions many people aren't informed about the truth.

Here are some links if people are interested to read more (especially the links within those articles). Not that I think it's a bad thing for people to pay more attention to what is happening in other countries, and what they can do to help (probably not buy a wrist band...)

Not necessarily pushing the agenda of anyone in particular I've just found the whole thing fascinating on many levels!

Yeah, I'd like then to admit it. I watched a vid of the people in Uganda watching it, and one of them said they were angry that some one was using their personal suffering for financial gain...
