I brought a set of scanpan knives over a year ago, they have a 10 year warranty.
The other day I trod on something. And cut my foot open really bad, I looked down and found it was a piece of metal. Anyway the next day I notice the tip of one of my knives is broken off!!! So that's what I trod on.
We paid $500 for our knives, they are treated like gold, never abused and always cleaned, i have no idea how it could have even broke as they are extremely heavy and sturdy knives!!
So my question is, would this be covered by warranty or will they just put it down to misuse?

We had scanpan non stick pans and the non stick stuff was coming off - a combination of bad utensils, and the occasional scrubbing.
We wrote to the distributors and they gave me a postage paid address and told me to send them in for replacements - no questions asked.
The service we had was amazing - I'm sure they will over your knives.
Good luck with them.

Depends how the tip came off. Did anyone drop it?
We have the same or similar knives, and DF dropped one and the tip broke off (right between his two feet!! He is lucky!)
We haven't done anything about it, never thought to I guess coz we dropped the knife so would be our fault.

i don't have scanpan knifes, but do you know if they are fully forged or not?
i would take them back and see what they say.
if they are fully forged it would be really unlikely that the end would break off unless it was dropt/snapped/buckled some how - so probably misuse (akthough it is always possible it was faulty)
if it is not fully forged then i would imagine it would come under warranty.

Yes they are fully forged and never dropped! I actually have no idea how it could have happened I'm pretty much the only person who used them.

Maybe I shouldn't bother then..?

i would take it back - take the whole set (will show how you have looked after them all) and see what they say.
My dad snapped the end of his mundial parring knife (fully forged) they wouldn't replace it. We still don't know how it happened though?

I would contact them for a replacement. I think even if it had been dropped, it would be reasonable to expect that to be covered under the warranty. It is quite fair to think that a knife could or would be dropped.

I think I might give the warranty line a call tomorrow and see what they say. It's my favorite knife!! Lol

Nothing to lose for asking
