    Angry Would you complain?

Some parent has rung the school to complain that my two kids walk or ride home on their own

My kids are 10 and 8, they have a mobile phone each if they have problems, they've been coming walking or riding to and from school since last year.

I asked had they misbehaved? The answer was no. I asked if they'd done anything wrong, run cross the road, climbed trees , broken someones plants or letter boxes or anything illegal - the answer was no.

What was the problem? They are walking or riding 700 meters on their own - that is the whole sum problem.

I see heaps of children, some younger than yours, walking to and from my son's school. Meh!

What is there to complain about?

What has the school asked you to do? Or were they just letting you know of the complaint?

How did they know it was your kids anyway?

No, i wouldn't complain. I see kids that age walking home alone all the time (i live near a primary school) and have never thought anything of it, i used to walk myself to and from school at that age also. I don't see what the problem is

Perhaps they were concerned the children were not only getting exercise, but also a few minutes outdoors.

Out of 500 kids, I suppose they just knew it was my two?

I asked the school what am I supposed to do or what they want me to do and they said they are just letting me know there was a complaint (huh about what?) and maybe I should organize for them to be escorted home. They didn't think it was funny when I said that the parent who complained was welcome to introduce themselves and escort my children home....

There is no policy about kids walking home 'cause the schools responsibility ceases pretty much once they are dismissed and once they leave the school grounds.

Im pretty much confused as I don't know what the problem is and I thought maybe I was missing something.
