Default Royal Womens Hospital Randwick - Private Patients

    Hi ladies,

Hoping someone here might beable to help me. I have extremely high risk pregnancy (dr thinks i will deliver at 24 weeks due to signigicant IUGR) and would prefer to have my baby at RHW. I know they only take public patients that live close by BUT will they accept me as a private patient due to my high risk pregnancy?

Any thoughts/help would be extremely appreciated. I'm currently 15 weeks.

Hi angerod they should take u regardless of where u live due to u having a very high risk pregnancy. U should be referred their by ur ob usually there is a high risk midwife who takes your details over the phone or your ob would directly speak to the specialists there.
I'm also high risk and going to a level 3 hospital in Vic despite not living in the catchment area. Goodluckhoprs this helps

Hi yes I am in wollongong. I would prefer to be a private patient just so the hospital gets some of its $$ back through my health fund. I'm going to see my Ob next Monday so I will tell him then to refer me to RWH. Thank you for your replies ladies, they are greatly appreciated.
Hoping my bub stays put till 30 weeks at the earliest.
