    Default Boys names: Scottish/Irish/Welsh/Gaelic

I love Scottish/Irish/Welsh/Gaelic names (am Scottish myself, and have a Gaelic Irish name). We have another bubble arriving later this year. If bubble is a girl we are organised, if bubble is another boy, well if DH gets his way he may just end up called Cleetus!

    Our DS is Hamish.

Boys names that are out because we know one, dont like it or any other random reason DH can think of are:
    Sean
    Patrick
    Campbell
Angus (I love.. dh hates. gah)
    Finn
    Ciaran

Boys names that I kinda dont mind, but arent in love with:
    Cameron
    Connor

It needs to be a name that is pronounced as its spelt (one of DHs stupid rules not mine! I love the Irish names like: Aoife - a girls example I know).

If anyone has any great suggestions thrown them my way!!

    Hey

I only have one suggestion, because I named my son this

    "Lochlan"

I never liked the 'a' spelling, but I think the 'o' version is more Welsh (Some Welsh mythological figure called "Lochlann"

I love the name Hamish! Best of luck in naming bubs

Seamus is out then lol. (pronounced shame-us). ds2 has that has his middle name as its basically the Irish James and that is a family name, but all our kids have a new take on family/important names as their middle names

I LOVE Seamus (and my Aunty actually calls my son Seamus, purely because thats what she thought I caleld him!), unfortunately I went to school with a boy who got teased insistently and was pretty much named Semen or some variation of it from about year 7 onwards, and I wouldnt want to change the traditional spelling of it to suit how it sounds, just cos I hate that!

Thanks everyone, some great replies! My list is quickly getting bigger. DH will hate all of them no doubt!

I have a son named Rhys - welsh. I also have a son named Flynn and a daughter named Cassidy - Irish. Cassidy can also be used as a boy's name (although I prefer it as a girl's name obviously )
