I think the problem stems from the fact that it is a religion..

Like when you send our child to a school, you automatically represent that school and people associate you with their own opinion, bias and feelings about that school.

Same with a religion. Catholic, protestant, jewish, muslim, buddhist etc etc...
these all bring to your mind a picture of a type pf person.

whereas if a person says ..i have a faith ..they don't come with a pre conceived picture.

Take Catholic and protestant for example, they follow the same bible..same prayers...yet they hate each other.
Why? Henry the 8th only made a new religion, so he could get a divorce and marry a new woman and get some extra cash!

( I know there were other factors..)

Or even the in fighting between "catholics" and christians". Its al so sad and takes away from the true spirituality.

Hillsong is another very interesting one. ...I could go on and on...as I have studied this stuff for ages...

The religion and politics side are awfu.

Christian. I always answer Christian because of my faith in God. Sometimes I feel like a fraud though because our society is so bloody obsessed with putting people in these little boxes and I feel like 'real' Christians might say I am not a Christian since I don't go to church etc, but for me, my faith is most important, IMO a lot of people go to church who have little faith which i think is pretty meaningless.

I totally agree. Most of the most spiritual people I know, are not church goers.

That little tick in that box influences decisions made in politics.

It becomes part of statistics that influence decisions (laws) that may rest on or have a basis from Relgion.

I have no idea if this is a reliable source. All I did was Google 'Hitlers religion' and came up with pages and pages that he was a practicing Roman Catholic but most religions preachers teach that he was an atheist as they don't want the church to look bad.

He wrote in his book 'Mein Kampf' and declared in speeches his belief in Christianity.

...I'd say that is a pretty 'reliable source'
