Musicalgal - I'm currently with Dr Wright and he is fantastic. I have been in hospital four times this pregnancy with a retroplacental hematoma and he has been so great. Explains everything really well, always understanding, slightly strange sense of humour.
As mentioned he has no upfront fees and charges $65 a visit of which you get $40 back from medicare straight into your bank account the next day.
While I was in hospital I once saw Waterfield (as Wright had the weekend off), can't say I was too impressed with his bedside manner. He was fairly disinterested in me, but I'm not sure if he would be different if I was actually his patient.
Miller doesn't do obs anymore. I haven't had anything to do with NKC (or know anyone who has gone with her), I do know she an upfront management fee of around $3000. Not sure of any other costs or anything.
At 13 weeks I was rushed to the base in an ambulance. Worst experience ever. It took them over a day to work out that I needed a blood transfusion. No-one ever seemed to read my notes. They discharged me, despite my concerns that I was not better, and surprise surprise I haemorrhaged within 3 hours of being home. DH took me to the private where I had fantastic care, another blood transfusion within hours of arrival and was allowed to stay until I felt comfortable.
Good luck with who ever you go with and enjoy this special time.

DJ I have heard wonderful things from patients of both NKC and Dr Wright and you are spot on even as a patient I felt like he was pretty disinterested in me and my history. I am glad things have been great for you with Wright. My GP and Waterfield did say to me when I asked about going public or Private hospy that if I valued my health and care go to the private that it was really not a choice.

MusicalGal, - I had Waterfield as my OB for DS. He does ask the same questions over at times, but that didn't bother me as I could either, be in the waiting room waiting for him to read my file, or be in his office telling him again. Although my pregnancy was very straight forward, so there wasn't too much to catch up on. At every scan he did ask if we knew the sex, (yes) and then proceeded to tell us that "there is the penis, and there is the scrotum". Which made me giggle.
When I had my MMC I found him rather compassionate in the 4 weeks that it took for the heart to stop, and he was open to whatever I asked for, i.e. D&C and chromosomal testing of which they found it to be a partial mole, so I had to be monitored regularly by him for another 6 months after.
That's just my experience. But everybody's experience is different.
As I've been told by so many, was that they are all good doctors, it's just a personality thing. One thing I would consider in choosing one of these OB's would be to look at who hasn't got leave around the time of your due date, if you want the same person to deliver your baby. BTW I have an almost invisible Cesar scar 2 years down the track.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, I hope it will be as lovely as mine was.

sorry if tmi but I had a small bleed this morning and I'm pretty freaked out now. It was when I went to the loo and haven't had anymore, looked like "old" blood. Phoned the clinic and had to wait over 1 1/2hr for nurse to call back, not concerned about it, could be totally unrelated or from implantation, too early to be af so shouldn't be any problem, call back if anything changes. I was getting so hopeful this time was the one and now I'm so worried........it's so hard not to think of all that can go wrong........I wish I could turn my brain off

Amps Try to stay positive and it could have been implantation, it could have been just a little aggravated by all it has gone through the past week or so. Was it bright red blood or dark brownish at the time of the bleed. Hang in there.

Thanks everyone on your input re choosing an ob gyn. I've got an appt with Waterfield this Mon to check him out, and then I couldn't get into Wright for 3 more weeks, around the time the nuchal scan is due. So I guess I'll go to both appts and choose from there. After working so hard to get this Pregnancy, I really don't want a bumpy ride if anything goes wrong. I'd love to have nkc but 3k extra for a smiley face is just too much , especially after biting the bullet and spending more travelling to wazza etc. I'll choose between Wright and Waterfield and let you newbies know when u get ur bfp!!
AMPS try not to worry hun. I know easier said than done. But it could b from implantation! How exciting. Will u poas this weekend?

Amps I apologise right up front for my next sentence. You need to sort your bowels ASAP both Julie and Kerry think my sever consitpation and pain could have something to do with the bleeds I had increase your fruit prunes whatever it takes lots of water, boil a green babana 5 minutes with the skin on and eat it will make you go quick smart (thats a kerry suggestion).
Sunny Welcome Home How are you feeling> When is BT?
Hi everyone my head isn't in the game today.
I swam 1km this morning first time ever I have even tried to so that felt great. I got some BT results today from the multitude of testsWDA had done.
All great with me, all great with DH. DH sperm count increased substantially still not normal but hey from less then 1million to 15 million is GREAT. Motility is 20% they say normal is 40%. Morphology is the issue 1% should be above 15% for normal range. His SCSA (DNA Frag test) was ok mid range fragmentation 24.23% and DNA Sustainability was 5.9% normal is 0-5% abnormal 15% above.
So we are awaiting the Endo Biopsy results for NKC and the FISH test from DH sperm to see how it is chromosonally.
Mostly good news little upset about the morphology with the impact that can have but have to stay hopeful. He is religiously taking his vitamins so perhaps the next sample at EPU will be great also we didn't freeze any WDA said he will drill his nuts should he not be able to provide on the day right after getting my eggs I am sure the wicked look in his eye scared DH but I had a good chuckle over that.

Hi Girls, Just dropping in every now and then to stalk you all LOL... AMPS - I really hope that's Imp bleeding and you get a big shinny BFP over the weekend Bella - those results are great except for the Morph but that a great increase in spermies since the last one, what vitamins do you have him on? Mine was on Menevit but now he is on SperMax to try to help his sex drive a little, his last SA was 27mil so I hope they have increased since then, im not sure how he would go doing a sample again, it was hard enough for the first one. MUSICGAL - congrats on your pregnancy hun! Obviously the trip to WDA paid off! And sorry to who ever else I have missed there are so many of you now LOL, Back to the clinic on Monday for the first of my scan and bloods, im going a little late in my cycle which worries me, instead of going in on CD8 like the want I will be in on CD12 because of the weekend, which I think it totally retarded! When you are paying money for a treatment you want the best possible care and because my cycle days fall on the weekend we will just have to go on a whim and hope I get home in time to BD, it will be a fast 8hrs home if I ovulate on CD12!! Anyone else in for bloods on Monday at CFC???

Well we returned home to Cairns very late on Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning....seriously jetlagged and cannot get back into my normal sleep pattern....5 hours sleep since leaving Cape Town last Monday morning!!!
I will catch up on everyone's news this afternoon.
We have the official report on our embryos transferred and frozen.
I had 2 x expanded blastocysts transferred (one a couple of hours ahead of the other).
6 x blastocysts frozen...3 x B4AA (expanded blasties with outer shell thinning for hatching), 2 x B3AA (full blasties about to move onto expanding) and 1 x B2 (blastie but not full blastie).
The remaining 7 embryos were taken to day 6 and 7, but they were slow and fragmented and arrested.
So I am now 5 days post transfer....I have a lot of AF type aches and pains, including my lower back (which seems to alternate sides), in fact the AF type feeling is pretty constant. I wish I was still in CT, as I didn't think and worry about what's going on in there as much as I do now!
