I just was throwing an idea out there...!

If I did dismiss it - I would believe that the earth was 7000+ years old. Which I don't.
I doubt the people that wrote the Bible even knew about Australia then - let alone it's unique fauna...

Before I quote anyone else I just wanted to clarify if you were serious or not when saying things like, 'god maybe stopped the carnivores eating other animals for a bit' and 'maybe he told the animals to travel to him'

    I'm seriously confused.
Or is this really the power of 'faith'? ... to make the totally illogical - reasonable?

Faith is not the power to make the totally illogical reasonable, but it is the belief that we can't explain how everything works or why everything has happened the way it has.

And yes to the other person who said that people lived a lot longer in the OT... I don't understand the point/question?

Well yeah faith is a key element in religion and believing in God.

I certainly don't believe the world was populated by 3 brothers and their wives!

The reason it is so confusing is because we don't know all the answers ! yes maybe G-d had mystical powers over animals and the elements, you can't prove he did but you can't prove he didn't!

Whatever the truth may be (I had this epiphany in my 20,s after nearly a decade of arguing why people believe what they do) I came to realise that with over 2 billion Christians, 2 billion Muslims and maybe 25 million Jews ( if I'm lucky!) something must be there for them to believe , and many if not most are a lot more intelligent than I, so yes it is faith, and unless you have it , you will never understand it!

Noah had a wife and his three sons and their wives were on board. The children of the sons and wives ie they would have been cousins intermarried and had children.

Nevermind all this talk of the Ark, modern genetics has proven that homo sapiens never went through a bottleneck of less than a few thousand. I can't remember the exact number, but it wasn't even close to 2.

And therefore the Adam and Eve story has been proven to be just that. A story. But if Adam and Eve never existed, original sin doesn't exist. And that takes away one of the central reasons for Christ's appearance on Earth (as Saviour/Redeemer).

I'm interested to hear how Christians view this. Is the concept of original sin important to them, or could it be dispensed with?
