    Default MIL and babys name.

Long story short MIL thinks my sons middle name is after her dad whom has passed. Never met him, didn't even know it was his name. He's only 4 days old so should I tell her it's not because it's kind of really annoying me. Better Q is HOW do I tell her????

No idea how you approach that, maybe get your OH to bring it up with her?

DSs middle name is the same as DHs uncle, which DH completely forgot about until his mum brought it up. I simply said "is it really? What a lovely coincidence, DH never told me he had an Uncle X.". Boy was DH in trouble from MIL!

I would just wait til it comes up in conversation and say Oh yes, I really liked the name after seeing it in that baby name book we had! Or something like that. But I dont like my MIL so I would also want to make it clear it wasnt after her dad.

Our dd's middle name is Rose. And MIL thinks it's after her (Rosemary). It's not lol. I just thought Annabelle Rose sounded nice and has nothing to do with her!

Can't say I have this problem, as our names are far too 'way out there' to ever be connected to MIL and/or her family , however If I was in your position, I would innocently and very casually make a remark to her along the lines of,

'Oh wow, what a coincidence, I had no idea your Dad's name is the same as ds's middle name', or something along those lines.

We were going to call Jasper William & then just went with that my DF's dad has a brother called William. Yeah sure that's who we're naming him after... But then didn't... Whoops!

Now we've thrown around the name Isabelle which is my grandma's middle name & she thinks we might be naming Bub after her... But I genuinely had no idea until my mum told me

But whatever.... If we do I'm happy for her to claim it.

Unless she's annoyed, then maybe assure her it's just a coincidence. Otherwise why not have people believe that bub's was named after his great grandfather?
