My first 2 were about 15 months, but thinking number 3 will be earlier!

DD took her first independent steps a week before her 9 month birthday, was walking confidently not long after. She always wanted to be on the move, so she had a jolly jumper, then a walker (mostly for use at her great-aunts house, as it wasn't baby-proofed), and then one of those push wagons.

I don't think they helped her to walk earlier, but they certainly helped ease her frustrations at not being able to move.

Both twins started at 10 months, just did the whole holding hands with them while they were standing and tried to encourage them by getting excited.

Ds is 10.5 months and has been walking confidently for about 3 - 4 weeks. Started walking with furniture etc around 8 months and just got more confident every day!!

    DD1 13months ( held onto my thumbs from 10months)
DD3 9 months lol lil bugger never bothered with holding onto furniture on my thumbs! She was always a slower crawler and just stood up and figured it'd be faster to walk!

I dont believe walkers or jolly jumpers speed up walking time (in some cases they will delay it). What will help is ensuring your child has lots of opportunities to pull to stand using furniture and walk holding onto furniture or push toys. A good one is playpens - the child can hold onto edge and walk along.
