Totally agree OP! For my DS I've found the cutest outfits at:-
Country Road - regular sales online
Myers/DJ for Jack & Milly and Sprout
Pumpkin Patch if wanting onesies
Target best quality for *cheaper*
Even paying for delivery from OS has been cheaper than buying local. I've got Ralph Lauren outfits for $20, same here would be $60.
Charlie & Me have some gorgeous boys shirts for when he's 3mths and older. They often have free delivery too and really cheap sales.

I buy my boys stuff from mothercare or online from the UK - loving the strong aussie dollar at the moment :-)
Online from Marks & Spencers, Debenhams, Gap, John Lewis.

Also have you looked on Tesco.com? It's a UK site but really good, I used to shop there all the time when I lived in the UK (its a supermarket but has a good clothing range)

I thought this too when I discovered I had a son on the way, but have now realised how much cool clothes are out there! I but most of my son's clothes at markets and order online from people who handmake the clothes. Etsy is a great website with tons of handmade clothes, also there are many Facebook pages specifically selling handmade boys clothes.
I now think boys clothes are much better than the stuff available for girls, every girl seems to be in frilly, flowery pink outfits but there is such an awesome range of styles for little dudes!

mumma of 2 boys here, newborn stage mine were always in onsies anyways, so it didnt really phase me a whole lot. but now they are older i get annoyed that everything has huge glaring screen prints on them and anything thats decent costs a fortune.
i just went to that charlie and me website. holy heck the little girl outfit on the front page made my ovaries ache. dangit

I just bought a heap of stuff from old navy and gap.. Really cute!
I also saw DJs had some gorgeous stuff from bebe, really cute onesies, I plan on getting heaps soon!
I also just got a really cool 'cruisin for a snoozin' 00 top for ds2, online from pram rock.
I think you've just got to look around, online as well as in boutiques. But it's not easy to find time when you've got a kid or 2 or 3!

I like Gap, Gymboree, oldnavy, JAnie and Jack - all from US. Myer has cute stuff and I tend to buy DS a lot of Esprit. I tend to buy basics though. I don't like a lot of cliche prints (trucks cars etc) and tend to buy RL polo's in a funky colour (on sale in US). A basic white polo with funky check shorts looks great.
I love pure baby and have been drooling over stuff for 'Paul'. We won't find out the sex of 'Paul' so I don't know what to buy. so many bargains in their sale section.
I buy a lot of DS's clothes at the end of a season for the next year. I have been caught though as he hasn't grown as much as I thought he would
