Default MCHN labels healthy, active toddler as 'obese'

    MCHN's strike again

Honestly, how ridiculous. It was my understanding that BMI wasn't being used anymore?? Especially for children?!

Well that would make my gi-normous DS morbidly obese.

He's 4, weighs about 23 kg, has been WAY over the 97th percentile from about 1 month old. He's never had softdrink, never been inside a MacDonalds, KFC et al, has phyiscal activity every day, eats 3 balanced meals every day that include all the food groups.

I would really be concerned that a nurse who thinks that child is obese is actually practicing medicine.
He doesnt even slightly look overweight. How ridiculous!
It's dangerous that this nurse is saying these things, imagine if a parent tried to cut food intake for a child. Stupid woman.

I saw this on my fb new feed. My bub wascalled obese by our chn but she was just under 4m and was on breastmilk alone. She had been close to 9kg (the limit for rf carseats at the time) so I wanted to weigh her and yep, she had hit 9kg. I was there to see if she had hit that limit, but instead copped a lecture but I never liked her so completely ignored her. She pushed formula at every opportunity and again told me that with formula you can adjust the amount, with breastfeeding you never know how much they have. Blah blah blah.

I told her Fatty Boombah was much nicer than Obese Infant.

This is shocking! I also didn't think that BMI calculations were used on children. I still don't understand why we ask health professionals to label our children, when we can see for ourselves if they are happy, healthy and developing normally.
