Don't stress, it isn't your fault at all. How were you to know it was there? And ignore your Mum. She should be there to support you, not judge you xx

Kids put anything in there mouth, and mine have eaten smokes too, they were ok.. It's not like you handed it to your child. And forget what your mother said, it's so easy to judge. I bet she had mishaps when raising you
Just have a look around in case there's any more, but I wouldn't stress to much

be gentle on yourself, keep an eye on her and I'm sure she'll be fine. I'm sorry your mother was so nasty, mummy guilt is strong enough without someone blaming you .
You're doing fine .

I have 3 kids and trust me you can't be everywhere they are all of the time. I can't take my 12 month old to the toilet with me as he tries to put his hands in the bowl (ew!). If I have to leave them for a short time to do something like that I just check around and make sure there's nothing within his reach. But he's crawling and cruising so finds so many things he shouldn't. I used to worry alot more with my first but after 3 kids I've realised we mostly survive our childhoods despite our parents
I'm sure she'll be fine and don't beat yourself up. I could list the stupid things I and my kids have done and we're all fine!

Big hugs. Ignore your mum, how lovely of her to say that to you, not.
My daughter has ripped up and had a chew on DHs smokes before which led to the high bowl rule for his smokes. She was fine. She stank, nothing a bubble bath didn't fix. Kids get into stuff even when you are watching like a hawk. They've got a special talent for it.
Try to not to be so hard on yourself, okay.

Your mum probably got a fright, too. That happened with my cousin's grandson. My cousin was up for the birth of her second grandchild and to help her dd and hubby move with 2 babies down to where my cousin and hubby live. They lived with the hubby's father who shifted his smokes onto the coffee table. My cousin was in tge living room with the 15mo while her 9 month pregnant dd was in the bath. Her dd called out for help to get out so my cousin helped her. Meanwhile the toddler helped himself to Grandpa's cigarettes just as Dad walked in. He flew off the handle at my cousin for letting him get to it. That was a year ago, he was fine, but it scared everyone.

I cant take my 12 month old DD to the toilet with me as she tries to climb into the tiolet bowl (while i am on it) and play with the toilet brush ewww lol - its just not sanitary to do that!!!!
You did everything you should have done regarding seeing your DD eating a ciggarette. Good on you for calling poisons hotline!
Im sorry you mum was so unsupportive.
These things happen and you cant be everywere all the time. 12 month olds are very curious and will eat anything and everything new to them! My DD has eaten dog food it's such a full on job at times and it's like we dont have enough eyes for them!!!!! i thnk you are doing pretty well

My DS1 got stuck into a friends' packet of tobacco, which was left on the kitchen bench when they were visiting. He got really sick & started vomiting. We took him to casualty & they made us feel like the worst parents ever
Don't be too hard on yourself, these things sometimes happen. My DS1 used to eat everything... poisions info line is written on our fridge in whiteboard marker
