    Default Baby bonus

Sorry if this is in wrong area I am on my phone and not many sub forums were showing up.

    Have I got this right?

Because my husband earns more than $75,000 a year we are not entitled to anything of the baby bonus???

    Thanks for the help!

I was under the impression it was not income tested... Maybe it changed since my last baby and I was not aware of it??

What it actually is - $75,000 in 6 months (i.e. $150,000 per year).

Aha! Gotcha! I thought that 75,000 was a bit low...

They certainly like to complicate things! :-/

I think we're gonna be over anyways unless hubby doesn't do overtime which he needs to to catch up on bills still from when he lost his job 2 yrs ago... Loose loose really. He still gets taxed on overtime which he has to work to make up from the huge amount of $$$ he looses in tax!!! Gah!

Were in a similar situation angels. It is based on you both (if you receive any income/money at all) earning less than 75k in the 6 months following the babys birth.

So yes, while my DH earns over the $150k, I think just by about $500?... we have tax, debts and mortgages and stuff he has to pay off from before we met, so we probably only see minimum wage every year at the moment. I wasn't relying on the BB at all! - see it as simply that, a bonus... but it would have helped us out. I have to relocate to have baby and we need accommodation/food/rental car for 6 weeks. Eek!

We got it with my DS 2 years ago, but not entitled this time, but yes, is means/income tested.

Me too hun! I have to travel 10 1/2 hrs to have our baby pay about $5000 in accommodation costs as it will be a 4th ceasar and won't be able to go anywhere for at least a month. Even then travel home after a month will be hard after a 4th ceasar. We also have to buy a new car, we are tight at the moment from hubby loosing his job 2 yr ago during the economic downturn that's how bad it was were still catching up now! So the BB would have really helped (if we are eligible but I highly doubt it as hubby's overtime will put us over)

We were never really counting on it anyway, but it would have been alot of stress off at the time of having baby, knowing there's that little extra coming in especially with upcoming accommodation costs buying new car etc... :-/ ahhh well what does one do...
