    This alarming statistic brings home just how important it is to know what to do when faced with someone at risk of suicide.

    We invite you to register, if you haven't done so already, for the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop to be held at DRUG ARM Conference Room, 473 Annerley Road (Cnr Fanny St), Annerley on Thursday 1 & Friday 2 March 2012.

    During this valuable two day workshop, you will learn about factors that may indicate a risk of suicide, communication skills to connect with and openly discuss suicide with a person at risk, intervention skills and ways to promote suicide safety. In addition, you will learn how to identify available resources to support persons at risk.

    Great course. I learned some of these skills as professional development in my old job and used them not only at work but also when a friend broke down and told me she had been considering suicide.

    Great thread

    I am just going to jump it and say for those in Melb who are interested, Wesley run it in the city, its a 2 day course, ran 1x a month and cost roughly 390ish.

    I am lucky enough to be doing it and have work pay for it, so yeah just thought i woud put it out there for is vics!
