I had $20k worth of debt after the salon i was leasing was sold out from underneath me and the companies wouldn't take back the stock, i paid it all off within 12 months just over a year ago and even though i have paid it it is still a bad thing on my credit file. Have applied to have it taken off as we want to buy a bigger house before bub's is born so will see what happens.

Also even though i earn a medium wage i still can't get credit because of these. Hoping when we see the Mortgage broker he can help

    Good luck

When I recently went for our home loan it got rejected because I found out I had a default for $130!! I rang the bank that put it there, it was for a late credit card payment and they put it there a year ago, even though I continued to use this card and it got payed off completely, they realized it was a mistake and they had it taken off within days. The bank then accepted our application and we got the loan.
I would recommend everyone check their credit file because you don't know what companies are doing and they do make mistakes.
At the moment if you have any bad credit, no banks will touch you, they are do strict now and aren't borrowing people money like they used to, it sucks but this is where the world economy is right now, good times are over :/

Thats Ok I figured you meant $10k anyway. My debts wouldn't be that much though. I have just found out that only debts that are $100 or more are listed so that cancels out a few small ones but I'm still confused about the others????

My DH had a bad credit file as he got his sister a phone but in his name and she didn't pay the bills. I think it came to $3000. but once you get sent a letter from dun & bradstreet who are a credit collection agency and you still don't pay up you will then end up with default which says on your credit report regardless if you pay it or not. so he was unable to get any loans for 7 years. the report you request should tell you if you have any and the amount of time that it will stay on file for.

You can get one for free from Dun & Bradstreet it also shows who has accessed you files it's easy to read.

You don't need to pay my budget, as a financial counsellor can give you free advice, and it's unlikely that anybody will chase you for any big amount.

Companies like my budget and fox symes just take more money from people who generally can't afford it.

I assume your problem is historical, and you can currently manage your finnces.

Doesn't my budget angle to organise payment of bills for a fee? how do they get paid? A for profit service will have a vested interest in a particular outcome.

Anyway, they don't suit the op's situation.
