Can anyone tell me where to get a waterproof protector? I have the polyester and terry towel kind but they are not doing the job!
Any suggestions welcome..

I've bought them from DJ's, Kmart & Myers. I'm sure baby shops would sell them too.

We use layers of waterproof mattress protector then an absorbant layer such as a large towel folded in half then a regular fitted sheet on top. If the child wets the bed on just the mattress protector they are going to be sloshing around a bit in their wee. Having an absorbant layer underneath will then absorb most, if not all of the wee and the protector will protect the mattress. We have at least 2 layers of this system on the bed so if DS wets the bed in the middle of the night we can just whip one layer off and presto, another layer is there.

Thanks everyone, Ill have to see if I can buy online or wait until I can get to the shops as I live remotely.
Someone suggested using 2 shower curtains underneath the protector for now.

Shower curtains work well, I used them until I found a vinyl backed fitted terry towelling one at captain snooze.

Have you thought about investing in a brolly sheet? They go on top and tuck in. If the child wets, you just change the brolly sheet, not the whole bed. We use brolly sheet, fitted sheet, mattress protector then waterproof mattress protector. What can I say, I'm paranoid! Anyway you can order them online, or if your handy google make your own waterproof mattress pad.

I got DDs from target for about $30.
It's plastic, then a layer to Terry toweling, then a layer of netted fabric and it barely crinkles when she rolls around.
