I've got my daughter in cloth nappies & am looking to replace the inserts - currently microfiber. So I'm looking for some feedback on what other types are like. Fast drying, less smell & absorbs well.

Cloth nappy inserts

Bamboo inserts are usually the most absorbent. Try searching ebay for the charcoal bamboo inserts, I think they are quite cheap. Or you can always get more microfiber ones & use 2 in each nappy.

agree with the above. double up with microfibre or use bamboo (on their own or in conjunction with the microfibre.
my son is 15months old and is in cloth full time, am also currently building a stash for my daughter due at easter. Majority of mine have bamboo inserts - microfibre was just no good here. I also have hemp, but find it gets a little stiff.
in terms of the smell - good luck with that!! Making sure they have enough fluids during the day so their pee is not as concentrated is a good start, otherwise rinsing the boosters when you take the nappy off, before you dry pail them is what I would suggest. I do this with my son's nappy that he wears to bed and assuming you are washing them correctly, you shouldn't have any lingering smells once washed.
