Just depends where you go. Some places bulk bill. I know with my first I went Tina really posh place and paid $250 for my 12 and $300 for my 20 week, let's just say I won't be going there this time!

Medicare doesn't cover this scan because it's not technically required; it's for the Downs Syndrome testing (amongst other disorders) and even though it's highly recommended that we pregnant women have it, it's still not classed as a nessecity. It should absolutely be covered, in my opinion.
I'm in Melbourne and recently paid $155 for mine.

I paid around $100 for my 12 week scan but got all but about $10 bacj from Medicare (was over the safety net).

My 20 week scan I didn't have to pay for & I also had another scan at around 36 weeks which I didn't have to pay for either.

I think it depends state to state (I'm in QLD) and place to place.

I will be paying $215.00 for 12 week scan but think I can get some
    Back on Medicare.

OMG, I think I'm being ripped off! My 12 wk NT scan is $340

It's my OB's preferred scan clinic though, and is where he referred me, don't think I can do much about it.

    I'm in QLD going private.

Miggins, mine cost the same, and I have had to have 3 scans this pregnancy. Broke!

Miggins, my 12 and 20 week scans were that price. At QLD Ultrasound for Women. Pricy, but very very thorough so worth the money. Not sure if that's where you are going but DH and were very impressed with everything there.

Mine was $300 & 20 week is the same. I'm not sure how much I get back yet. They are thorough, have large screens on the wall & provide lots of pictures (incl a cd with the photos).
