Yes. I spoke to the RTA and both come from the same factory. They are the same shell. The difference being the AHR version.
Either way, I put the EC and the AHR next to one another at the babyshop and they are the same height.
It looks like the AHR is higher, but it's not. The seating bit where they sit on, is higher than the EC, so the backrest seems to be higher when its really the same to the EC.
I will be putting the new model EC in my car and the older model that I have now, in my parents car.
Another thing the RTA engineer said, was that the AHR has no real effect unless the child's eyes are above the top of the seat. He reckons the pricing of the AHR is that high, purely because of marketing and advertising.
He believes ALL carseats sold in Australia are a good quality as the standards are very strict here. The only difference betweens seats would be the height of the backrest, the amount of extra padding and extra bits like cupholders, messy mats, etc.
Anyway, the rrp of the EC is $289,- so getting it on special for $215 is a bargain.

Good work Misschief, I did a lot of research and was so happy to get the EC for $215 - the issue for us was height too as DD is very tall, but she loves it and it will last a long time. I never thought of calling someone, would have saved me a lot of web searching and shopping
