To be honest im an only child and love/loved it, i wasnt lonely because i didnt know any different, we got to travel, go away for weekends, eat out at nice places, i feel like my parents and i also have a really great relationship which i dont think we would be so close if other sibblings in the mix! Dp and i are thinking of only having one also, we both dont have sibblings.

Good idea! I try to think of the positives of one and you have come up with some great ones here. For us we like the lifestyle of still being able to do restaurants/travel easily, babysitting options are wider with only one child (not sure how my mum would react to to having 3 overnight ), financially we can afford to let her have more in terms of education/experiences, and I mostly have just enough patience to do one most of the time, somedays I wonder how I would cope with 2 little ones wanting my attention and love!

But you are right MM, you probably can find lots of advantages once you have more than one, but I am sure you wouldn't give yours up

    Here is my story...

    http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/f...pinions-Please

I've never been happier once I made the decision. And being an only child myself, I'm better placed than alot of people. No major damage here!

Additionally did you know that only children spiked in the gread Depression. Now we have the economic crisis. We aren't alone in our decisions. In fact the fact that we can take our boy travelling and in particular to have a relationship with his grandparents and cousins etc is another factor of our decision.

I did want another child... but it didn't happen. I'm more than happy with how things turned out

As an only child I can also say there is enormous advantage in being able to have close friends tag along to things when you want them to but also having that ability for it just to be you and your parents is cool too. It's like choosing when to have siblings

Because there was just one of me it was easy for my parents to have a friend come with me on days out or on holidays or regular sleepovers.

I wouldn't give them up for anything
I can think of heaps of advantages to 1 but also to 2 - at the end of the day i think different amounts of children work for different families.

Don't feel terrible at all loco I wouldn't give mine up and I don't regret them at all I do wonder what life would be like with just one, sliding doors style.

    Took the red pill.

Loco - It's not terrible to only want one, not at all. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a jerk-faced fool.
