As I sit here on hold for almost 40 minutes, I wonder what is the record for being put on hold?
Actually, I have spoken to two people, the first asked what I wanted and put me back on hold. When I spoke to the next person it because clear that the first person transferred me somewhere else despite me calling the right area.
So how long have you been on hold for and what did you do while on hold?

I used to work in a call centre and I have seen people on hold for hours on end, it was company policy that we were to speak to the other consultant before we transferred the customer through so more often than not if the customer had another contact number we would tell the customer just to put the receiver down on the table and go on about their day and we would call them on the other number when we got through
I always thought it would be interesting to be able to hear what people where say while they are on hold lol

I was on hold with telstra for 3 hours once. Over a period of 2 weeks i spent 16 hours on hold with them (ongoing issues after moving).
Am I the only one who sometimes swears at the voice controlled menu selection thingo?
like 'F YOU FING F-ERS'
'Im sorry i dont understand your selection, please try that again'
'billing and sales'

Centrelink pulled out a cracker this morning. 'Due to the high demand, the hold music is delayed' Trust me Centrelink, no-one is ringing to hear the hold music.

Whoa Em! 2 hours! It's about a three way tie between Centrelink, the ATO and Optus. Although with Optus I just told them I'd wait while they got a supervisor as they offered to get the supervisor to call me back (like that was going to happen). Total call time to Optus, including the small amount of time with people, about an hour and a half.
