We are looking for a new home and considering building.
Did you build? Id love to know your opinions on wether or not it was a good decision financiall? What was the true cost of building (ball park figure) Including driveway, services, window coverings etc.
I have looked at major builders website but im sure the "starting from" price is not a great indication of the final price.
We would like 3 or 4 bedrooms, 2 bath, 2 living spaces double garage.

I have just signed our contracts to build & we cant wait. The house is 33sq which is fantastic. Our starting and finishing prices are approx $30,000 in difference which i thought was really good as its both our dream home
That doesnt include any decking, mailbox, window furnishings etc

We moved into our newly built home in November last year
We built as we had certain things we wanted in the home and couldn't find something established that met our requirements.
We built approx 325 sqm house (including patio/garage) and are happy with the end result. Mind you there are heaps of things we would have done differently now we've been living in it for a couple of months.
In the end with excess site costs, plan changes/additions, electrical upgrades (never give you enough lights and power points), driveway, landscaping, floor and window coverings, solar panels and air conditioning we were $170k over the list price.
It was a very stressful 12 months before/during the build but we are glad we did it.
Sent from my mobile device, please excuse the typing missed cakes.

We just decided to go with Dixons, they've given us an upfront guaranteed price of max $200k for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, double car garage house on our land. That includes driveways, ducted heating, solar panels, and a bunch of other stuff. I'd have to check the inclusions to see what else.
It also covers the cost of the house being designed and the project being managed from start to finish by a master builder
