I thought the stone kept it from going brown? I dont know, but my exes mum used to wet some paper towel and put the half face down (so the cut part is on the wet paper towel) and then glad wrap. I usually eat a whole one because I just dont know how to store it without it going brown/black.

This thread makes me wonder..
What kind of freaks if my family full of??? We don't let avacado past the front door. In kindy the teacher did a taste test thing and didn't like me spitting it back at her (rightly so too) I can have the spread on sandwiches occasionally, but other then that it's a no go food.

Yum! I love them, i try not to overdo it but i have been reading a bit lately about how the whole low-fat thing is being questioned anyway. The average person is eating less fat than we did 25 years ago but is still fatter than 25 years ago so what conclusion can you draw?
Tamtam i always eat the half without the stone first, and then when i start on the other half i scrape off the top layer. Its only the bit that gets exposed to air that goes brown.

Just been reading about avocados, and yeah it is a good fat (knew that anyway) and can assist in weight loss. OK, I don't need to lose weight, and the fat content doesnt really bother me, but I do try to avoid bad foods, and Ive been under the impression that avocados were considered bad because they were apparently so fatty, so had to be eaten in moderation. The fats in it help the insulin or something or another.
I went off them during my pregnancy with DD1, and am only JUST getting back into them now, 4 years later. Oh how I have missed thee!!

I never liked it until a few years back it's an acquired taste as the texture is weird IMO.
I found when I started off mixing it with salads it was yummo. I like it as guacamole which is just mash and some taco mix. On crackers with tomato, cucumber and cheese yum! I can have this just for dinner not even with crackers just the rest mixed together and spoon it in

I would go for it, yum! I was told that avocado lowers cholesterol levels...I suppose it's the good fat?
And I always thought that keeping the stone in prevented it from going brownI suppose I eat them too quickly to notice
Anyway, my favourite ways to eat avocado are on crackers or toast with cracked black pepper, salt and a squirt of lemon juice. Mmmm.
I also LOVE avocado between two slices of wholegrain toast with grated cheese, salt & pepper. Yum.
