I did live in Melbourne 7 years ago but going back for a holiday in a few weeks and wanted a list of things I could do
2 or so of those days will be spent visiting my old friends etc but wanted some other fun things to dostayin in St Kilda so will mostly be relying on public transport bur could hire a car If needed ( it's just me my mum and sister so no kids)

What time are you going? I think Love Never Dies is wrapping up... it hasn't been as successful as they'd hoped for, tickets are dirt cheap (it's unfortunate.. I would have loved to see it, but DP won't go with me
) but maybe you can catch that before it finishes?
Otherwise, everything that WCM has suggested is gold- I LOVED the Old Melbourne Gaol tour- we had a tour guide called Peter who was fabulous!!

If you like nature and beach skip great ocean rd and go to Wilsonn prom I reckon its heaps better.
All previous suggestions r great. You could also head to daylesford for spa and bnb type stuff.
U could do your own walking tour through cbd laneways, great street art, food.
If rock of ages still playing that was great.
Bourke st mall has half price tic for shows that night.
Brunswick st is always good and smith st for shopping at factory.

Nomsie- thank you I will look that up
I did the gaol years ago with school bur would love to go again- how much does it cost?
Button - thanks great ideas, will just have to work out how far the drive are and if we will hire a car for any Times etc as we don't have a spot to park a car at motel but I'm sure something will work out
whoever suggested chocolate tour it sounds fab but 40 a ticket x 3 adds upmay just have to find a cafe to indulge in instead

I was just looking up the cost for you, what a shame! Well yes there are plenty of cafes along that tour you can indulge in instead. Haighs chocolates are devine and located Collins St arcade section.
Plenty of the other suggestions are great, but I thought you were only relying on public transport?? If not then there's heaps more we can suggest

I just looked up tx for love never dies and it's still a bit pricey too.. wed matinee is $70 (so I guess not too bad for a musical, and a Lloyd Webber one at that?!)
Ooh, it's till summer- go have some fun at MSAC - Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. It's not far from St Kilda and if you're lucky you might spot a hunk in speedos there
I did a school tour at Melb Gaol so not sure on costs, sorry!
