Hey there I'm looking at purchasing a baby gate to set up in the near future and need some reccomendations. The opening we need to cover is approx 1.6m wide so we are looking at having to buy a gate with a few extensions. All the gates I have found are quite short and we would need to spend a fair bit on extensions to cover the opening, so really my question is...is there anybody who has had an opening this big and purchased a baby gate and extensions which didn't cost an arm and a leg. Is this possible?!? lol I should also add that this is the only opening we can put the gate on so there are no other options for us Oh and we are renting so it cant be retractable where you have to use hardware to connect to the wall.
Thanks in Advance for any help!

First Years is a good one, you can get an extra tall one and I think it comes with extra extensions? We used one for our dogs in a rental and it has those rubber pads so you don't have to drill holes.

Yeah, I also think First Years is good - we had it in our last home. This time around, we bought a "Summer Infant" brand for a little more money. You can read a review and go to an Amazon (US) link here: Baby safety gates review guide. We like the way it looks more than others, and it is still quite functional.
I know I'm late to the discussion, but since we just barely bought this gate and love it, I thought I would chime in. What gate did you end up buying, Purple Lily? Are you happy with it?
PS: I would generally recommend against buying gates on eBay, because of shipping costs and because if you buy used, the gate may not function properly.
