I dont know that much about PCOS. I was tested for it middle of 2010 (with ultrasound, blood tests and symptom test) and it came back that I did not have it. Id gone to my doctor because my periods were out of control. Id had them 3 times in 6 weeks..the shortest theyd been was 12 days and the longest was a once off 32 days with the average being about 18 days. So the doc tested me and it came back negative.
She put me on the pill to regulate my periods..I was on it for 8 months before coming off in July 2011 to begin TTC. Since being off the pill my cycles have been 42day, 35, 37 and 35 days. Im wondering if its possible to be tested for PCOS and have it come back negative only to develop it a little while later? I cant help but feel like Im infertile so was just curious about the chances this has happened? Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

PCOS is really made up of number of symptoms and a person may at any time have none or several of the symptoms. So yes, you may have not shown enought symptoms at one stage to be diagnosed with PCOS but have a different result at another time. The good news is that with diet and lifestyle you may be able to get back on track. I would suggest going to see a fertility specialist who specialises in PCOS.

Thanks for the reply..Would it be worth going to the doctor to recheck? Weve been trying for 6 months..I just thought it would have happened by now. I know the whole 12 month before seeing a doctor thing...I think maybe Im just being impatient? hahaha

Yes I'd recheck!
Pre pill I had a regular cycle. In it come roughly monthly. I was in a healthy weight range etc. I met dh and started taking the pill. 2 years later I came off to start TTC. I was a month late and after doing numerous hpt went to see my gp. She ran bloods. Diagnosed me with PCOS and off to the FS. Sometimes I show no symptoms. My period had been pretty regular for a few years now. I can loose weight now too which I struggled with before. And sometimes ultrasounds show normal ovaries. But they still consider me with PCOS.
I think I had the potential to develop it and the pill triggered it off when I stacked on a large amount of weight when I started a new brand.
