    Default Baby shops and cigarettes

I went to a local baby shop for a booster seat for dd.

They sell baby seats, bassinettes, slings, cots, clothes, toys, mattresses, prams, all sorts of baby things.

They also hire out capsules, carseats, boosters, and porta-cots.

The woman who runs it wreaked of cigarettes. The entire shop stunk of cigarettes. The carseats that were at the bottom stunk of cigarettes.

The woman went out the back and told me to follow while she got prices. I did. All the products that are for hire are out the back, along with ash trays containing cigarette butts.

How would you feel about a shop like that?

They are also expensive. The Hi Liner is $70 or so more than at the other baby shop, so I don't mean it's a discount shop either.

I would of turned around and shopped else where... Smoking is gross, specially things you have bought/hired that smell of it, not professional at all!

I'll report them before I name them, in case they cover it up then go back to old ways after a while, iykwim.

I know the shop you are talking about (I used to live in the same town as you). It's revolting. I walked in while I was pregnant with DS and had to leave, never to return. It's unfortunate nothing has changed in 3 odd years.

I bought her maxi rider from there halfway through '06 and it was ok then. I just find it concerning with the sids information that they sell products for newborns that have cigarette fumes on them.
