    Just an update. I found out that the family in question paid the money. They didn't have the emotional reserves to fight it and they didn't want to take it public as they wanted their privacy so they could grieve. It was easier to pay the $3k.

    It sickens and disgusts me that we live in a place where our authorities can take advantage of a family like this. For the uptight, a$$hole bureaucrat that approved this, I hope karma gives you what you deserve. And when that happens, may those around you treat you with more compassion than you have shown here.

    Why would you have such a fine in the first place?!!! Is it supposed to be a deterent for thrill seekers? But clearly you dont survive if you jump off this bridge....
