Sorry I haven't posted with an update. We had another good night, with only a little nurofen needed. We did need to go back to the hospital yesterday to have some extra dressings put onto the top of his thigh where the original dressing had slipped down and he hated it. He was crying and crying and my heart was breaking.
We are in Brisbane now and I'm dreading tomorrow when we need to have the dressings changed. Just thinking about having to go in and do it is making me tear up. I will be glad to know for sure the full extent of the damage - we were told that with burns sometimes the damage won't show up for several hours or days.
I am going to start another thread about it, but will ask here as well. We have been told that the dressings need to be changed tomorrow. Being new years day and Sunday the GP will not be open and we have been told to go to the ER. Does anyone know whether we should go to the Mater or to the Royal Childrens?
Thanks everyone

We went to Brisbane Children's Hospital to have DS's dressings changed.
The poor love. He was ok until they had to get some of the dressings off that had stuck in a couple of places. It was horrible.
The doctors say that it looks to be healing well (we had a surgeon who specializes in burns look at his leg) and that he should recover well.
It looks so painful. Red and bleeding, but apparently that's a good thing.
The put acticoat on and have put in some tubes so that we can inject sterile water into the dressings 3 times a day which we have done a couple of times now. It does make him cry, but I think that's because we are holding him down, not because of the pain. I've given him pain meds anyway tonight, just to be safe.
I should be able to sleep tonight, finally, now that I know what we are dealing with.

Bleeding is good.
It means the tissue is fresh.
Big hugs for your little man.
He will be bouncing back sooner than you think.

Oh, poor little man. I hope he's feeling much better ASAP. I hope you all are! I couldn't imagine what you all would be going through. You did so well to act so quickly.
Lots of hugs x
