Friends of mine had a princess and pirate party for their twins, loads of princess and pirate party costumes and accessories/invites/games , I think 1st birthday parties are fun too, no they won't remember but we will and you will get loads of great photos/videos

I had a pirate party for my DS1. But I was so busy rushing around on the day I wasn't able to enjoy it. I would say just do something small so you can enjoy the day and it isn't too stressful. Garden theme sounds cute.

My sister just had her boy/girl twins turn 1. They had a Princess/Knights/Medieval theme.
