Hi. We are staying a couple days and are needing wet weather ideas to get out of the house. We have 3 kids aged 5 ,3 and 18 months

Are you actually in Newcastle or general area? If it is raining you could visit the Newcastle Museum or Maritime Museum, there is a jeannie baker exhibition at the art gallery. If it is not really raining you could go to Blackbutt Reserve or Hunter Wetlands. If you want to venture a little further there is Oakdale Farm at Salt Ash and the Shark and Ray Centre at Bobs Farm (not sure about the younger ones for this). There is lollipops playland at Kotara but I haven't been there.
